Donegal’s top golf resort is an ideal place for links golf lovers to stay, currently 45 holes on-site - Sandyhills Links and Old Tom Morris Links with another 18 on the way 2021. You are surrounded by golf, beaches and hills, the views are simply stunning. It is in the seaside town of Downings which has a few friendly pubs and restaurants specialising in seafood, all of which are very welcoming to visiting golfers. 

The rooms at the hotel range from the Classic rooms to the stunning Bay View Suites that are a huge 450 square feet and enjoy stunning views over Sheephaven Bay.

Dining in the hotel includes the Harry Vardon restaurant which specializes in seafood and the James Braid bar which offers a snack lunch menu.

After the golf you can enjoy the indoor pool or steam room or outdoor activities such as Tennis, Pony trekking or fishing.

We also highly recommend taking a drive around the nearby Atlantic drive, the views around the Rosguill Peninsula are not to be missed and there are a handful of hidden beaches that you will most likely have all to yourself.

Rosapenna Sandy Hills Links

The Sandy Hills Links at Rosapenna opened for play in June 2003 and has matured into one of Ireland’s finest modern links courses. Where Old Tom settled for a course alongside the dunes, Pat Ruddy has gone straight through them from start to finish and created an awesome course that will test any golfer.

Rosapenna Old Tom Morris Links

In September 2009 the new Strand Nine opened at Rosapenna to replace the original back nine which played across the main road on a number of holes. These new links holes which are now played as the front nine are routed through the low lying dunes to the east of the Sandy Hills Links and are fashioned much like the original Old Tom Morris Valley nine that runs along the beautiful Tramore beach overlooking Sheephaven Bay which have now become the back nine.
