Home of the 2006 Ryder Cup, The K Club, just 30 minutes from Dublin is undoubtedly one of Europe`s finest golf resorts with two Championship golf courses - Palmer North and Palmer South.  This luxury 5-star hotel, set in 550 acres of Co. Kildare countryside where the River Liffey meanders its way through the soft green surroundings, has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere while maintaining the very highest standards of luxury.  There is a word-class spa and a huge range of outdoor pursuits to satisfy even the most energetic of guests.

The hotel has a variety of dining options to choose from including the elegant Barton Restaurant, a Thai restaurant and even their own pub.

The K Spa is one of the finest spa facilities in Ireland and the hotel also boasts an indoor pool as well as Clay Pigeon Shooting, Horse riding and Kayaking.

The main attractions for us of course is the top two championship courses now called Palmer North and Palmer South. Both courses have featured on the European tour, not many resorts can boast about this. Palmer North is the original course and famously hosted the Ryder Cup in 2006, Palmer South once known as the Smurfit course opened in 2003 and provides a different test to its older brother.

Carton House Montgomerie

The "Monty" course is long but can be enjoyed by handicap golfers as the fairways are wide and poor shots do not get punished all the time that is of course if you stay away from the deep bunkers. There are no signature holes to speak of just a good all round course.

Hermitage Golf Club

About Hermitage Golf Club

Located to the West of Dublin, Hermitage Golf Club is a parkland course with a championship set up. It is a welcome change of pace from some of the more predominant links golf experiences in the area. A gentle front nine at the top of the valley quickly changes gear into a challenging back nine with some spectacular golf holes as you work your way up and down the valley and running alongside the river. The 10th hole as a camera worthy 200ft drop into the valley leaving little margin for error or you end up in the river – it is definitely “one for the books” and is known as one of Irelands best golf holes.

We highly recommend Hermitage as a golf course to consider within your wider Dublin golf course itinerary. It is only 25 minutes from the city which makes it very popular with the rich and famous of the city too. The landscape and surroundings make Hermitage Golf Club feel a million miles from the city hence its popularity. With continual re-investment, the golf course boasts amongst the very best greens in the Dublin area, some unforgettable holes and a tricky finishing hole which could break many a scorecard!
