David, Josh and Gordon from our sales team visited Camiral Golf & Wellness in the Costa Brava area of Spain. The purpose of the trip was to sample the resort first hand and allow us to better understand how the resort works for the benefit of our team and customers!
Costa Brava Golf Holidays >Where is Camiral Resort
Camiral Golf & Wellness Resort is located in the Costa Brava region of Spain. It's 20 minutes from the atmospheric and gastronomic hub of Girona or 1 hour and 20 minutes from Barcelona itself. There are year-round flights into Barcelona along with lots of good options into Girona airport during the Spring and Summer months. Girona airport is only 10 minutes from Camiral making it a great option if flights into Girona are an option!
When is the best time to golf in Costa Brava?
The optimum golfing weather is April - June and September - October when the weather should be perfect. The summer months are generally warm but still very playable from a golfing perspective.
What are the accommodation options at Camiral?
Camiral has two fantastic hotel options. You have the 4-star Lavida Hotel which is perfect for smaller groups, it is styled in a more modern, contemporary way and at a lower price point if you are looking to keep costs down a little bit.
The second hotel option is the 5-star Hotel Camiral which is the flagship property. This is a Leading Hotel of the World and it places huge emphasis on the quality of service and facilities. You can enjoy cutting-edge spa services including Cryotherapy treatment for the ultimate in restorative care following a tough 18 holes on either of the golf courses!
Or, if seeking something different, Camiral also boasts some incredible villas that can be rented if you would like a more private, self-catering style golf holiday.

What golf courses can I play onsite at Camiral?
Camiral boasts two championship golf courses onsite - Stadium Course and Tour Course. They are amongst the best golf courses in Spain with both golf courses regularly appearing within the Top 10 rated courses in Spain. There aren’t many resorts where you can stay and play with two of the very best courses in Spain on your doorstep.
The Stadium Course is considered the best. It is firm but fair in terms of a test of golf. Having played host to several major competitions including the Spanish Open, it is a golf course that you will wish to play again and again.
The Tour Course is a fantastic golf course. A touch “easier” than the Stadium but no less of a golf course in our view. The two courses complement each other very well.
The practice facilities are excellent as well so you are assured of a first-class overall golfing experience at Camiral.
Where can we eat and drink?
You have a variety of options at Camiral. From more informal dining in the golf clubhouse to relaxed pizza and pasta at Bella’s or you can push the boat out one evening and treat yourself to the Origin fine dining restaurant within the Camiral Hotel. A popular choice is the Camiral Bistro where grilled meats are the speciality – perfect after a day on the golf course.
We also highly recommend venturing into Girona. Hotel reception will organise a taxi and within 20 minutes, you’ll be in the centre of town where there are bars and restaurants in abundance. Girona has a “mini-Barcelona” feeling throughout and is well worth at least one or two visits during your stay!
What else is there to do at Camiral?
If taking some time off the golf course, take advantage of the weather and choose to relax by the swimming pool, get a sweat on in the gym, relax in the impressive spa or stay active on their tennis and padel courts too! The hotel concierge can also sort specialist activities to include foodie tours of Girona or bike rental, if you fancy exploring the local area further. There is no shortage of things to do.
In our view, Camiral Golf & Wellness is undoubtedly one of the leading golf and leisure resorts in Europe. The proximity to major towns and cities such as Girona and Barcelona make it very accessible and the climate means you can visit with confidence throughout the year!
Our advice is to get yourself down to Camiral before everybody else does….
