Vietnam - Your questions answered
Vietnam is a country full of unmissable experiences. Stretching from Hanoi in the North, to Ho Chi Minh in the South and with everything to explore in between. Think mountains, rainforest, pristine sandy beaches, colonial influenced architecture, bustling cities, UNESCO world heritage sites including Halong Bay and historic Hoi An…rice padi fields, a chequered history, the Mekong Delta and of course….the stunning championship golf courses that binds together a trip to this magnificent country.

How do you get to Vietnam?
There are direct flights from London that serves Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (formerly known as Saigon).
You can also choose to fly with many of the gulf airlines such as Emirates, Qatar or Etihad, who offer connecting services in to the major Vietnam cities including Danang.
Singapore Airlines offers great connectivity via Singapore as well and this is a popular way to combine Singapore with Vietnam if looking for a 2-3 day layover.
What are internal flights like in Vietnam?
The national airline is Vietnam Airlines, and they offer a huge range of connecting flights across Vietnam meaning everywhere is very accessible and easy.
When is the best to go to Vietnam for a golf holiday?
Vietnam is a long slender country with different climatic zones. The north is cooler, and the south is a more humid tropical environment. The central part of Vietnam is the seasonal sweet spot but experiences heavy rainfall during the peak summer months of September to November. If you are touring all areas of Vietnam, then travelling February to June is the best time to combine them all.
What are the 'must do's' within a Vietnam golf tour?
We suggest starting or ending your tour in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh to best fit in with flights before moving into the central parts of the country.

Hanoi is the home of the government and the capital of Vietnam. The city has a lot of colonial French influences from the occupation. Expect great architecture, even better coffee and a very cool place to explore for a couple of days. Most of the best courses are within an hour of the city. Hanoi is also seen as a gateway to Halong Bay, the famous limestone formations in the bay which is a UNESCO site. Here you can take a 1- or 2-night cruise on the bay and really take in the incredible scenery in this unique part of the world.
Golf highlights of Hanoi
The largest golf resort in the Hanoi region. With 55 holes spread across 3 distinct golf courses called the Lakeside, Mountain and Kings.
Thanh Lanh Valley Golf & Resort
One of the most exciting golf courses in the Hanoi region, enjoying a stunning location by the lake. Designed by Nick Faldo, it is a must-play as part of any wider Hanoi stay.

What can I expect on a golf holiday to Ho Chi Minh?

Ho Chi Minh is the largest city in Vietnam. Seen as the economic centre of the country. It is a bustling, frenetic city with energy in abundance. A must-visit for a couple of days to see the sights, sounds and the museums. Go and visit the Cu Chi Tunnels as part of the Vietnam war for a true sense of the conditions the soldiers endured. Head out to the Mekong Delta and experience the wonders of the floating water-worlds. Golf is also accessible here with plenty of amazing courses within easy reach.
Golf Highlights of Ho Chi Minh
Perfect for including in your itinerary if staying in central Saigon. Vietnam Golf & Country Club has two golf courses, named East and West. The style is treelined parkland with a more traditional feel throughout.
Designed by Greg Norman, The Bluffs Ho Tram Strip is one of Asia’s must-play golf courses and widely regarded by Norman as amongst his best designs.

What is Danang like for a golf holiday?
Moving into the central part of Vietnam, namely Danang and you are rewarded with beaches, scenery and the best of golf courses. Danang is both a city and a gateway and most definitely an area of the country you will want to spend the bulk of your time from a golfing perspective. Our preference is to stay just outside Danang, close to the historic UNESCO town of Hoi An where you can enjoy the town by day and night. From here you have world-class golf on your doorstep, beaches for miles and an easy taxi into the beachside resort of Danang for restaurants and bars too. We recommend staying in the area known as Lang Co which is 90 minutes from Danang city. Lang Co is a very special resort with luxury hotels, private beach and incredible golf course onsite (alongside others nearby) where you can visit the historic city of Hue and explore the national parks.
Golf highlights of Danang
Legend Danang Golf Resort - Norman Course
The flagship 18-hole golf course in this 36-hole complex at Legend Danang Golf Resort. Designed to be a real test of golf from start to finish and mirror some of the stereotypical links-style golf course experiences that the legendary Greg Norman encountered throughout his illustrious golf career.
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr, Hoiana Shores is a very special golfing experience. Close to the UNESCO ancient town of Hoi An, it's a luxury golf experience from start to finish.

Golf highlights of Lang Co / Danang
One of the most unique golf courses in the Da Nang area. Nick Faldo designed the golf course and at the forefront of his mind, you can see what he was trying to achieve by keeping the golf course connected to its local environment. From start to finish, it is an exhilarating course.
With one of the most unique, if not the most unique of locations in the Da Nang region. Ba Na Hills is a very special place to enjoy 18 holes. You are well looked after as if in a luxury 5-star resort. The practice facilities include covered range bays with a chilled ambience and great short game area.

What is Cam Ranh like for a golf holiday?
The coastal town of Cam Ranh is also well worth a stay with Central Vietnam. The golf offering is smaller but excellently formed. The beaches are arguably better and the pace slower than Danang. There are some fantastic hotels dotted along the beachfront, giving it more of a beach holiday vibe. Easily reached via internal flight or you can choose to take The Vietage by Anantara – a luxury train which is attached to the national rail network travelling from Danang to Quy Nhon and then from there, head to Cam Ranh.
Golf highlights of Cam Ranh
A championship-level coastal golf destination designed by Greg Norman. The 18-hole links-style stretches across natural sandy terrain with sweeping ocean views, prevailing winds playing their part, and strategic bunkering, delivering an authentic links-style challenge in tropical Vietnam.

Combining elements or all of the above is the perfect way to blend history, culture, golf and a relaxed leisure stay all in one incredible golf trip.

Any practical tips for golfing in Vietnam?
The golfing experience in Vietnam is unlike anywhere you will golf in the world. Golf carts are not always compulsory depending on the golf course, but we highly recommend you take them and often include them automatically within our packages for ease. Caddies are mandatory in Vietnam, and you pay the caddies locally alongside any gratuity. The caddies are great, very knowledgeable and really do enhance the golf experience. From club selection, reading the greens, cleaning your clubs and making your round of golf as fun as possible, the caddies are a huge part of this. The general cost is $15-30 per caddie with an expected gratuity of the same amount but it is discretionary based on your experience.
