Aberdeen

Trump International Scotland

The North East corner of Scotland is already blessed with fantastic golf courses: Royal Aberdeen, Murcar, Cruden Bay to name but a few. However, the highlight for me is Trump International. It’s got a wow factor that I’d only previously felt at St Andrews Old Course.

Offering stunning views over the North Sea, the course looks sheltered by the massive dunes that overhang every fairway making every hole feel exclusive. These dunes are 25-30ft tall and if your ball comes to rest there, then your stance for the next shot is challenging to say the least.

The course itself is very challenging and will test every aspect of your golf game. Some booming par 5’s coupled with short, quirky par 4’s and excellent par 3’s. It’s a true test of links golf and a beverage afterwards is very well deserved.

My top tip for here: When playing the 14th and 18th holes, go all the way to the back tees where you get some amazing views over the course/sea. The 18th measures 651 yards from the Tiger tees with around 250 yard carry to the fairway and a wind that’s usually into your face. I had a shot at it and failed miserably so use an old practice ball if you’re not confident.

After your round, the clubhouse is excellent. It’s not a traditional club and presents a modern image which I enjoyed too.
