Thailand FAQs
From practical details and timings to what to expect on the ground, our FAQs cover the key points you need to know about Thailand.
When is the best time to play golf in Thailand?
The cool, dry season from November to March is generally the best time for golf in most of Thailand, with comfortable temperatures of around 20 to 30°C and low humidity. The ‘green season’ from May to October has its own appeal too – better value and quieter courses, with the rain usually falling in short bursts rather than lasting all day. If you're planning on travelling during the hot season of March to May, we would recommend early morning tee times to avoid the afternoon heat.
Is all inclusive an option in Thailand?
All inclusive is not the way golf holidays tend to work in Thailand, and that is part of the appeal. Hotels and resorts have excellent restaurants of their own, and the local towns are full of superb food and lively bars.
Are golf buggies included in Thailand?
Yes, at almost every golf course in Thailand a caddie is compulsory, and buggies are standard too. Your caddie will help with club selection, yardages and reading the greens and looking after your clubs, and they quickly become part of the experience.
Is Thailand a good destination for groups?
Thailand's up there as one of the top long haul destinations for groups. The resorts have plenty to keep everyone entertained, the golf is first class, and the nightlife is a genuine draw – from Bangkok's buzz to the bars of Pattaya and Patong. For a group that wants to pair serious golf with lively evenings, it is hard to beat.

Where is the best airport to fly into for Thailand?
The best airport depends on where you're heading. Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) is the main gateway and the natural choice for the courses around the capital, Pattaya and Hua Hin, with non stop flights from London. For a trip focused on the island, Phuket is the better arrival point, with one stop routings through a Gulf or Asian hub.
Are flights included in golf holiday packages to Thailand?
Yes, flights are included in all GolfKings golf holidays to Thailand. Flight time from the UK is typically 11 to 14 hours depending on your destination and any connections – direct to Bangkok is around 11 to 12 hours. It's easy to add a stopover of a night or two on the way, which is a popular way to break up the journey.
How long should a golf trip to Thailand typically be?
Thailand rewards a longer stay; to take in the golf across more than one region and travel between them comfortably, we'd suggest a minimum of 12 days. If you'd rather base yourself in one area – Hua Hin, for example – 10 days still gives you plenty of time to play the best courses and explore the surrounding areas.
What is the nightlife like in Thailand?
One thing's for sure, Thailand is certainly not short of nightlife. Bangkok has everything from rooftop bars to buzzing night markets, Pattaya is renowned for its after-dark scene, and in Phuket the Patong district is the island's nightlife hub. Whether you're after a lively night out or a relaxed dinner and a drink, there is plenty to enjoy once the golf is done.

We'd recommend booking at least six months ahead to secure the flights, tee times and hotels you want, and ideally around a year in advance for the most popular courses and peak dates.
