Emerald Lake Experiences

Tucked away in Yoho National Park, just over the Alberta border from Lake Louise, Emerald Lake is the perfect place for a rest day from the golf in the Rockies. Stay right on the lakeshore at Emerald Lake Lodge, then explore the waterfalls, rock walls and glacier-fed lakes of the park on your doorstep. There's no golf here, but it acts as a great pause between the championship courses of Banff and the Okanagan Valley.

Exploring Yoho National Park

Emerald Lake

On your doorstep while staying at the Emerald Lake Lodge, it's a lovely spot to walk the easy shoreline loop or take a canoe out onto the water.

Takakkaw Falls

One of the highest waterfalls in Canada, Takakkaw Falls thunders off the cliffs at the head of the Yoho Valley.

Lake O'Hara

Lake O'Hara is widely considered one of the finest hiking areas in the Canadian Rockies. The access road is closed to private cars and places on the Parks Canada bus are limited, so it pays to plan well ahead.

Stops Along The Way

The Trans-Canada Highway serves up some brilliant places to break the journey. We'd recommend allocating a full day for the drive, so there's no need to rush and plenty of time to enjoy the scenery. These are the stops we'd make along the way.

Wapta Falls

Near the park's western boundary, a forest trail leads to Wapta Fall. It sits just off the Trans-Canada Highway, so it's the perfect first stop.

Golden Skybridge

A short drive beyond the park boundary in the town of Golden, the Golden Skybridge strings suspension bridges high above a forested canyon. The views across the Rocky and Purcell mountains are spectacular.

Revelstoke

The popular ski town of Revelstoke is a natural place to pause for lunch before the final stretch. Take a wander around the downtown and stretch your legs before heading to Okanagan Valley.
