The Carrick

Set on the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond, The Carrick is an excellent parkland golf course which offers some of the best views in Scotland. Twice host to the Ladies Scottish Open and a regular feature on the Europro tour, the Carrick has a championship pedigree earned by very few courses in Scotland.

Measuring over 7000 yards, the Carrick offers a firm challenge to all who play it. Water hazards feature on many of the holes, the tee-shot on the 4th hole requires precision and your irons have to be accurate as there’s not much room around the greens for any errant shots. The Par 5’s on the front 9 give a good birdie chance with a good initial drive being essential. The halfway-house is a highlight at the Carrick; “the Highland Laddie Halfway House” is an old River Thames boat that’s been converted and offers great views of Ben Lomond.

On the turn for home, the back 9 is a challenge as you try to keep a good score on the cards. The 14th hole is one of the most picturesque holes on the course; an elevated tee-shot down to a small green makes it a really tough par 3. Measuring 199 yards, it’s not long but still has the potential to cause a few problems. The final hole is a very playable par 4 that does offer a change for birdie. A nice ending to a tough round.

With Cameron House onsite and an award-winning clubhouse – The Carrick is a perfect course on any visit to the area.

Earl of Mar

The Earl of Mar golf course couldn’t have had a better start in life.  This wonderful piece of land was handed over to respected designer Dave Thomas and he has designed a golf course that takes advantage of the wonderful views of the world famous River Clyde and Kilpatrick Hills beyond.  It has some great holes down by the river and despite being quite compact, has the length and character to challenge even the most accomplished player.
