Royal Cape Golf Course

Over more than 100 years the golf course at Royal Cape has evolved into what it is today -  a classic parkland course that provides a fine test of golf as well as a wonderful playing experience. The course is in superb year-round condition with well-grassed fairways, smooth greens and challenging bunkers.

Although the course is on flat terrain, the playing of Royal Cape is subject to three of nature’s beguiling offerings: a near-constant wind to challenge you, sweeping mountain views to charm you and water features to ensnare you.
Royal Cape is without doubt one of the best and most challenging courses to play both in the Western Cape and the country. It is a course of championship stature, playing to a par of 72, which has hosted the SA Open ten times as well as many other professional and top amateur events. Winners at Royal Cape include Gary Player, Ernie Els, Mark McNulty and Trevor Immelman.

Clovelly Golf Course

With spectacular mountain views, False Bay and the ocean as a focal point, Clovelly is one of South Africa's best parkland courses.

A tight par 72 with a testing mix of interesting holes and elevated greens accompanied by beautiful views of Silvermine River and lakes. Natural water features and a wide variety of indigenous fauna and flora, notably the variety of trees lining the fairways.

Westlake Golf Course

Set in the leafy Cape Town suburb of Lake Side, with its back enclosed in the walls of the Silvermine Mountains, Westlake Golf Course has gained an illustrious reputation as one of the Cape’s premier courses. The natural beauty and wildlife that the surrounding mountains have added bring forth an element that most city suburb golf courses can only dream of.

Towering flat pine trees which line many of the fairways are a highlight as well as a characteristic feature of the course. To achieve a good score, you have to stay out of the trees. Westlake has an interesting but user-friendly design and quite a few doglegs. From the first to the eighteenth hole, every step affords panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.  The par 4, 12th, Westlake’s signature hole deserves a special mention with tall pines flanking the right-hand side of the fairway and offering a challenge to most golfers.

Steenberg Golf Course

When the original Steenberg Developers, Johnnic, broke ground in 1994, they had a vision in mind to create the premier golf estate in the country. For most, this vision was hard to comprehend and to visualise the transformation of a working farm filled with wetlands into a golf estate must have been impossible.

Rated among the top 3 golf courses to visit in South Africa, Steenberg, nestled in the crook of the Constantiaberg Mountains, lives up to its fame with a charming location. Designed by the eminent golf course architect Peter Matkovich, Steenberg follows his principle that good golf course architects “listen to the land”. Recently voted “Top foreign golf resort” by Conde Nast Traveller readers, Steenberg is one of the most prestigious golf courses in South

Africa.

The greens on the course are especially laudable, but the quality of the fairways or the rest of the course is in fact, equally impressive. Signature holes are the 7th and the 14th. Large aprons around the greens are another special feature and the vineyards also provide a unique visual aspect, as well as a charming added hazard.

Milnerton Golf Club

Milnerton Golf Club evolved from a six-hole course at its inception in 1913 into the world-class 18-hole championship course that it is today.

The course was closed at the start of the First World War and re-opened in 1925.

The “9 out, 9 in” Links type layout is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the Westside and Rietvlei lagoon to the East and provides a golfing experience unique to South Africa.

In 1995, the course underwent a major facelift as a result of the development of the Milnerton Links housing estate on part of the course. Some of the original holes were retained, while others were completely rebuilt. The new layout, together with all its features, has proved to be a huge success.

With its glorious and unobstructed views of Table Mountain acting as a backdrop to unsurpassed beauty from most holes, Milnerton Golf Club is truly a wonderful gateway to the “Fairest Cape in all the World".

On a clear day, it is one of the most visually beautiful and unique courses in South Africa. With the Atlantic Ocean as a panoramic background, the rhythmic sound of the crashing waves drowns out other distractions and provides a sense of calm focus to let you drive, putt and wedge yourself into this old and noble game.
