There are three championship courses set on the 850 acre Perthshire estate.   The PGA course, which was the venue for the 2014 Ryder Cup and 2019 Solheim Cup, is the highlight, but the superb Kings course, and the gentler but no less enjoyable Queens layout, are among the UK`s best moorland golf courses.

Gleneagles is just an hours drive from both Glasgow and Edinburgh Airports and while the focus is very much on golf, the hotel is home to a huge range of facilities and amenities.  There`s everything from clay pigeon shooting to off road driving outside and an award winning spa, state of the art gym and a shopping arcade inside.

Guests at Gleneagles are also spoiled for choice when it comes to dining.  Relaxed options are on offer in the Clubhouse and Deseo, while more formal dining is available in the superb Strathearn and at Andrew Fairlie, Gleneagles' Michelin starred restaurant.  And, no trip to Gleneagles would be complete without afternoon tea or a cocktail/single malt in The Bar.  Be sure to enjoy a bite to eat and drink the stunning Dormy Clubhouse too.

Gleneagles Kings Course

The Kings course at Gleneagles is regarded by many as the finest inland golf course in Scotland. Designed by James Braid, the Kings is considered to be one of his finest pieces of work. Now over 100 years old, the course is constantly improving due to constant investment.

Gleneagles Queens Course

The Queens course at Gleneagles is a fantastic course and should be on any itinerary when you visit this part of Scotland. It is considerably shorter than the Kings and PGA courses but in no way is it easy. The lack of length around the Queens is due to there being an array of par 3’s and only one par 5 making birdie chances a rarity.

The Queens at Gleneagles is the prettiest of all the Gleneagles courses and allows you more to enjoy the beauty of the place. It’s ideal for a relaxing round if you’re staying at the hotel after playing the other courses – you may even shoot a good score.

The highlight of the round at the Queens is the 15th hole – a typical risk/reward par 4 that could yield an eagle. If you play it well, then it’s definitely something to treasure.

Gleneagles PGA Centenary

The PGA course at Gleneagles has played host to some of the most prestigious events on the golfing calendar; the 2014 Ryder Cup and the 2019 Solheim Cup where both times Europe has been victorious. Although all 3 courses at Gleneagles are fantastic, the PGA course has a special feel to it that you don’t get at many courses.

Lynedoch - Murrayshall

The 9 hole Lynedoch Golf Course is the little brother of the Championship Murrayshall layout but that lack of length doesn`t mean its a soft touch.  It has some tight fairways, made to feel even narrower due to the tall Scots Pines lining either side, and this, combined with tricky greens and bracken filled gullies, makes the Lynedoch an interesting challenge for golfers of all abilities.

Murrayshall Course - Murrayshall

Murrayshall is an unusual layout in that it has six par 5s.  This means you need to be long and accurate off the tee to get close to the par score of 73.  While the par 5s certainly offer up a challenge, it is the seventh, a 379 yard par 4 with dog-leg, stream and elevated green, that really gets the heart pumping on the outward half.  Then, as you approach the 19th hole and a well deserved drink, you have to negotiate the 199 yard 18th.  This a great finishing hole where success will make that drink taste all the sweeter and failure has probably meant a trip to the sand protecting three sides of the large green.
