Palheiro Golf

Palheiro Golf Course is situated on Madeira Island some 10 km East of Funchal. It offers magnificent views of the town and bay, and is set within the stunning two-hundred year old Palheiro Estate.

Palheiro Golf Course Description

The 18 hole par 72 course was designed by Cabell Robinson and opened in 1993. 2003 saw the replacing of two holes and the addition of a 6 hole golf academy. The result is a stunning 18 hole challenge with breathtaking views, fast undulating greens, well placed bunkers and tight fairways that reward accurate play.

The Palheiro Golf clubhouse, perched 500 meters above sea level, boasts a panoramic terrace that commands unlimited views of the Funchal harbour and the Atlantic Ocean. The stylish clubhouse is further complemented by a superb restaurant, managed by the award winning Relais and Châteaux Hotel, Casa Velha do Palheiro.

Originally built in 1937, but completely transformed by Robert Trent Jones in 1991, the Santo da Serra Golf Course offers 27 holes with stunning views of the island and surrounding Atlantic Ocean. Home to the Madeira Island Open, the course is meticulously kept.

Santo da Serra Golf Course Description

Santo da Serra Golf is surrounded by botanical gardens and four lakes that come into play on a number of holes. The Machico and Desertas are the two loops usually played during the Madeira Open and are among the toughest holes at Santo da Serra. The Serras is the course’s third loop and, despite being slightly more straightforward, maintains the same high level of condition.
