La Quinta

Overlooking Marbella’s Golf Valley, La Quinta Golf Course was designed by Manuel Pinero and Antonio Garcia Garrido. It opened for play in 1989.

Elevated tees offer excellent visibility, but fairway bunkers await any tee-shots that stray too far off line. Raised greens also require careful club selection and accuracy is required on approach shots to avoid the fearsome greenside bunkers.

Las Brisas

Opened in 1969, Las Brisas Golf Course was an instant hit and over the years has hosted two world cups, three Spanish Opens and the Mediterranean Open.

Las Brisas has a typical Robert Trent Jones golf course design with raised greens and a large number of strategically placed bunkers guarding both the fairways and greens. Water is also a major feature, with ten lakes coming into play on twelve holes. The fairways are imported Bermuda grass that is immaculately kept all year round.

Cabopino

One of the Costa del Sol’s newest, Cabopino Golf Course is situated between the resorts of Fuengirola and Marbella with views down to the Mediterranean.

At only 5600 yards, Cabopino Golf Course is not long, but small greens and narrow fairways put the emphasis on accuracy and constant changes in elevation, making club selection tricky.

It is a golf course which will require players to use every club in the bag, and for big hitters brave enough to take some risks, a low score is achievable.

Estepona

Situated in the foothills of the Sierra Bermeja just 2 km from the centre of Estepona, Estepona Golf Course it is considered by many to be the friendliest golf course on the Costa del Sol.

The fairways are very generous and encourage the bigger hitters to open their shoulders, but care has to be taken to avoid the water hazards and bunkers that are scattered throughout the golf course. Not particularly long, Estepona Golf Course has a lot of undulating terrain and a buggy is recommended.

Wrapped around El Hacho beacon with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean and Gibraltar, La Duquesa Golf Course is a typical Robert Trent Jones course with thick rough and large bunkers.

La Duquesa Golf Course Description

La Duquesa Golf Course’s Palm tree and bunker-lined fairways require accuracy from the tee. Approach shots also have to be precise to avoid the large greenside bunkers. Even when players find the green, concentration and a good putting stroke is required to conquer the large contours and undulations.

Opened for play on the 1st of January 2004, Santana Golf Course lies within 138 acres of picturesque parkland close to the resort of Fuengirola.

A golf course requiring good course management and accuracy to avoid the many water hazards which meander through the layout. The well kept greens are well protected by numerous bunkers and finding the fairway from the tee is important. Despite being a fairly new addition to the area, Santana Golf Course‘s reputation for pristine condition and beautiful natural surroundings is growing.

Atalaya Old Course

The Old Course opened in 1968 and features wide fairways and fast, elevated greens. The fairways are lined by a number of Eucalyptus, Olive, and Pine trees, which offer pleasant shade in the summer, but punish any inaccurate shots. Measuring 6760 yards in length, the elevated tees offer stunning views of the Rock of Gibraltar and North Africa, but don`t get distracted as the course demands your full attention at all times!

The Atalaya Golf Courses are very popular amongst visitors to the area. Its two courses offer a fair test to keep players of all standards interested. Both courses are renowned throughout the Costa del Sol for their beautifully kept fairways and greens.

Opened for play in 1991, Los Arqueros Golf Course was the first Costa del Sol course designed by Seve Ballesteros. Set amongst the Ronda Hills, between two valleys, the golf course offers scenic views of the Mediterranean.

Measuring just over 6400 yards, Los Arqueros is not long by modern standards, but with tight fairways and a number of hazards, accuracy is the key to scoring well. Undulating fairways and small greens require careful club selection.

Los Arqueros Golf Course is more suited to the more experienced or lower handicap golfer. It offers a great test of golf combined with scenic views of the Ronda Mountains and Mediterranean sea.

Located in Casares between Marbella and Sotogrande, Finca Cortesin Golf Club opened for play in October 2006 and offers views over the Mediterranean and North African coastlines.

The fairways are generously wide, but are lined with well placed bunkers and several water hazards. The large undulating greens are very inviting, but with subtle slopes and burrows, careful placement on approach is required if you are to be left with a straightforward birdie putt.

Flamingos Golf

Flamingos Golf is part of the Villa Padierna Palace Hotel near Marbella. There are three courses available at Villa Padierna Golf Club - Flamingos Golf, Alferini Golf and Tramores Golf, as well as the Tramores Golf Academy.   

Flamingos Golf was designed by the prestigious architect Antonio García Garrido.  The front and back 9s provide different tests of golf. The front 9 fairways are lined with Olive, Orange, and Cypress trees, and call for a great degree of accuracy, especially from the tee. The Arroyo de Taraje stream meanders its way through the front 9 holes, catching many first time visitors off guard. The back 9 has slightly more generous fairways, although strategically placed bunkers and a few water hazards will keep even the more experienced player on their toes.

Alferini Golf

Flamingos Golf is part of the Villa Padierna Palace Hotel near Marbella. There are three golf courses available at Villa Padierna Golf Club - Flamingos Golf, Alferini Golf and Tramores Golf, as well as the Tramores Golf Academy.   

The Alferini Golf Club used to be known as the Gran Flamingo Golf Club. Designed by Antonio Garcia Garrido, this 18-hole course carves its way through the hills and enjoys breathtaking views.  From the back tees the course is a formidable 7200 yard par 73 that offers a stiff, but fair test of golf.

Atalaya New Course

The Atalaya New Course , Par 71 , apart from offering spectacular views over the Mediterranean and Gibraltar, is considered one of the most natural areas and integrated into their environment on the coast.

Created in 1990 by Paul Krings , this field is further inland , but also gives the feeling flat golf course with its wide, undulating fairways and fast greens . One could even say that the obstacles are obvious, but in the end surprises the unsuspecting .

Aloha Golf Club

The Aloha has hosted the PGA Tour 3 times in recent years and is one of the top golf courses in Spain. 

A parkland course of Par 72 it is laid out in the traditional way with 4 par 5?s, 10 par 4?s and 4 par 3?s’ distributed evenly between the two nines. 
At 6,293m (6,882 yards), from the white markers, the course requires accuracy from the tee and a good touch around the greens. 
The golf course undulates through trees and lakes with outstanding views of ‘La Concha’ mountain and the Mediterranean Sea. 
The course designer, Javier Arana, further enhanced the playing experience by planting a wide range of trees and shrubs that provide beautiful displays of colour throughout the year.
