Estepona

Situated in the foothills of the Sierra Bermeja just 2 km from the centre of Estepona, Estepona Golf Course it is considered by many to be the friendliest course on the Costa del Sol.

The fairways are very generous and encourage the bigger hitters to open their shoulders, but care has to be taken to avoid the water hazards and bunkers that are scattered throughout the course. Not particularly long, Estepona Golf Course has a lot of undulating terrain and a buggy is recommended.

La Duquesa

Wrapped around El Hacho beacon with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean and Gibraltar, La Duquesa Golf Course is a typical Robert Trent Jones course with thick rough and large bunkers.

La Duquesa Golf Course Description

La Duquesa Golf Course’s Palm tree and bunker-lined fairways require accuracy from the tee. Approach shots also have to be precise to avoid the large greenside bunkers. Even when players find the green, concentration and a good putting stroke is required to conquer the large contours and undulations.

Alcaidesa Links

Situated near San Roque, Alcaidesa Links Golf Course was designed by Peter Allis and Clive Cook. It offers spectacular views of the Rock of Gibraltar and the Atlas Mountains of North Africa.

Opened for play in 1992, the par 68 Alcaidesa Links is not long by modern standards at just under 5500 yards, but it requires a fair amount of accuracy.  The fairways are quite generous, encouraging the bigger hitters to open their shoulders from the tee. Some care has to be taken to avoid the many gorse bushes which await any stray tee-shots.  The greens are fairly small, so careful club selection and accuracy are a must.

Almenara Golf Course Description

Measuring between 6350 and 6400 yards, depending on which 18 hole configuration is used, Almenara Golf Course is built on undulating terrain and buggy hire is strongly recommended. Elevated tees and raised greens are a trade mark of this course. The fairways are lined with Oak trees, Cork trees, and a number of streams, which makes accuracy from the tee important.

San Roque Old

San Roque Golf Courses – The Old Course Description

Nestling in the foothills of the Sierra Bermaje, between Jerez & Marbella, San Roque Old Course is consistently regarded as one of the finest courses in Europe.

Opened for play in 1990, the course was designed to offer a stiff test for the lower handicappers, yet still be an enjoyable challenge the inexperienced players.

Rolling and tight tree lined fairways on the front 9 call for precision off the tee. The greens are renowned for being fast and undulating, and punish anything but a well judged putt. The back 9 has more generous fairways, but strategic bunker placement and water hazards lie in wait for any wayward drives.

Despite being at the higher end of the price scale, San Roque Old course comes highly recommended to any keen or serious golfer.

San Roque New

San Roque Golf Courses – The New Course Description

Measuring just over 7100 yards from the back tees, the San Roque New Course is equally as long as the Old Course, but it is an easier and a more forgiving test. The fairways are generously wide, but still require careful placement to ensure a clear view of the pin on approach shots. The greens are very large but protected by over one hundred bunkers, large mounds, and water hazards.

San Roque New Course was designed to challenge the lower handicapper, but a choice of five different tee positions make it an enjoyable course for the more inexperienced player.
