St Francis Golf Club

St Francis Bay Golf Club is renowned country-wide for its warm hospitality and a great club spirit, which has been the essence of the club over the years, and continues to grow.

For all golfers, especially those visiting the Eastern Cape in South Africa, the opportunity to visit St Francis Bay Golf Club for a couple of rounds should not be missed.
Situated in one of South Africa’s, if not the worlds, the most exclusive locations, St Francis Bay Golf Course has been fashioned on an incredible piece of estate that overlooks the ocean that the town of St Francis Bay is built up against.
The club, originally a nine hole course designed by Robert Grimsdell and funded by Leighton Hulett in 1975 was for private use but has since then incurred dramatic changes and a further 9 added by Maxwell in 1999 resulted in the 18 hole it is today.
The par 71, of moderate length provides a challenge and breaking par on this “thinking” course is going to prove to be a challenge.
Fail or succeed there’s always the 19th to work out just what happened! Activities in the area include swimming, surfing, windsurfing, sun-tanning, body boarding and wave skiing.
There’s also an operational airfield nearby for the aviators among you as well as the Kromme River that makes for excellent fishing.

Fancourt Links

The Links is the flagship course at Fancourt.  South Africa`s most successful golfer, Gary Player, designed the course and ranks it as his greatest design achievement.  It is a challenging layout and has provided a test for the world`s very best players, from Tiger Woods and Ernie Els in the Presidents Cup, to the best European Tour Pros in the South African Open and to the world`s elite female golfers in the World Cup of Golf.

Fancourt Montagu

Voted the number one golf course in South Africa in 2000, the Montagu course at Fancourt has since undergone many more improvements and is today in league with the most modern courses of the world. With golfing access limited to members and their guests, the much-celebrated Parkland course provides ample time and space to relish a quite beautifully manicured experience, in majestic surroundings like no other.
The new and improved Montagu course makes for a remarkable round of golf. The holes have been lengthened and new green complexes have been introduced. The warm-up area, featuring a full-length range and a chipping and bunker practice area, is available to all golfers before play. Golf carts are available for hire, weather permitting. Caddies are mandatory to ensure a steady pace-of-play and add to the joy of playing.

Fancourt Outeniqua

A majestic 18-hole parkland layout at Fancourt, designed by the legendary Grand Slam golfer Gary Player, the Outeniqua is quite similar to the Montagu and offers challenging design and fine conditioning to ensure an excellent test for all levels of golfers. With play being restricted to hotel residents, members and their guests, the course rarely seems crowded and you can enjoy a peaceful and comfortable round of golf at your pace. Although set in the same surroundings as its better known counterparts, the Outeniqua has developed an individual personality rivalling the others.

As with all courses at Fancourt, there are a variety of tees from which to choose to play, ensuring that golfers are unlikely to ever feel overpowered by the course. Excellent water features and creeks interspersed with uphill and downhill challenges and excellent bunkering (recently renovated) are all augmented in the charm and challenge by the colourful flora to be seen throughout the course.

With spectacular mountain views, False Bay and the ocean as a focal point, Clovelly is one of South Africa's best parkland courses.

A tight par 72 with a testing mix of interesting holes and elevated greens accompanied by beautiful views of Silvermine River and lakes. Natural water features and a wide variety of indigenous fauna and flora, notably the variety of trees lining the fairways.

Pinnacle Point

The Pinnacle Point Golf Course is something truly unique for the discerning golfer. This 18 hole championship golf course was designed by well-known South African golf course architect Peter Matkovich who opened the course together with top Irish Tour Golf Professional Darren Clarke in November 2006.

Darren Clarke, who was also involved with many aspects of the Pinnacle Point course design, has said that Pinnacle Point is “... the best golf course on the planet.” Pinnacle Point was selected as one of the Top Ten New Golf Courses of the World by the American publication Travel & Leisure in January 2007.
This Clifftop Fynbos Golf Course inspires the golfer to play this challenging layout with a level of respect due to its dramatic views and breathtaking terrain. The 72 par layout is characterised by 7 majestic holes that line the Indian Ocean rock cliffs, four of which are played over ocean and cliff. All 18 holes have been designed to fit the contours of the land.
The reintroduction of the endemic fauna and flora to the estate has been hailed as a remarkable achievement by local and international ecologists and the preservation of this pristine Fynbos is an ongoing commitment by the Pinnacle Point Beach and Golf Resort.
Pinnacle Point has received the ultimate accolade and is recognised for its outstanding service standards, having been awarded the Compleat Golfer 5-star Experience Award. Assessment is based on various categories, including clubhouse facilities, golf course, halfway house, practice facilities, customer service quality, price/value relationship, services offered and ambiance. Recognising performance excellence in the golfing world and seen as the `Oscars` of the golfing industry, the Compleat Golfer 5-Star Experience Awards, celebrates the top 25 South African clubs that represent the country`s finest golfing experiences. The Pinnacle Point golf course, which is open to the public, has gone from strength to strength and is now rated as one of the top courses in the world.

Oubaai Golf Course

Oubaai is golfing heaven: idyllic yet challenging and wrapped up in the most breath-taking scenery on offer along the Garden Route. Perched on the edge of the hill cliffs leading down toward the Indian Ocean and with the Outeniqua Mountain Range as a majestic backdrop, the club enjoys the best of both worlds. The fairways undulate over the hilly terrain and the grounds are in immaculate condition.

The first Ernie Els signature course in South Africa boasts a traditional links layout with veld grasses lining the lush, well bunkered, fairways and a panoramic 180-degree ocean view. The course is surprisingly long for a coastal course, and, with five par 3s and five par 5s, it makes for an exciting game, requiring your undivided focus despite the plethora of visual pleasures all around. Watch out for the sea breezes that are a regular around this high cliffside location. The course is unique in that it is challenging yet friendly and can be played and enjoyed by golfers of all abilities.

Kingswood Golf Course

Situated on the picturesque Garden Route in George, the Kingswood Golf Course is designed by Danie Obermeyer, a star of the design circuit. Cape Town-born Sally Little, international LPGA champion and South African legend for 35 years, signs off this golf course. Her invaluable inputs have combined with Obermeyer`s experience and creativity to result in a course that is not only female and family friendly, but also a challenging golf experience.
The course, built on a rolling landscape has a sense of space due to seemingly wide-open fairways; it also offers an array of visually pleasant holes, some which are seen from high vantage locations and some in a tranquil, serene and protected valley.
The feature bunkers are a quite intimidating, yet aesthetically memorable challenge throughout the course, and amply make up for the lack of excessively long carries or very challenging water features.
