From a golfing perspective, Phuket offers a great choice of golf courses to play during your stay. If seeking a truly integrated golf resort experience, look no further than Laguna Resort located on Bang Tao Beach. Laguna is a high-end, low-key beach resort with 5-star hotels including our highly recommended Banyan Tree Phuket where you can simply walk to the first tee from your pool suite! No other resort in Phuket offers this golf resort option and the Banyan Tree is one of the best resorts on the island. Laguna Golf Club is located onsite. It's an excellent resort course and very walkable with a lot of fun golf holes.
If you are staying in the Banyan Tree or other hotels in the Laguna/Bang Tao area, be sure to play Blue Canyon Country Club. It is right next to the international airport. Meaning it is good for arrival or departure days as well if part of a wider itinerary. Blue Canyon has hosted some impressive competitions with winners including Tiger Woods and Greg Norman! The Canyon Course at Blue Canyon Country Club is the bigger name of the two but the Lakes Course at Blue Canyon Country Club is no walkover either with, as the names suggests…a few water features to contend with. Mission Hills Phuket Golf Resort is another good course and only 40 minutes from the Laguna/Bang Tao area...a more gentle course with great holes by the seaside and good for some additional variety to your week.
Patong is the main tourist resort in Phuket. If looking for nightlife, this is where you will find it.
Just twenty minutes from Patong and you have the exhilarating Red Mountain Golf Club and sister course, Loch Palm Golf Club. A contrasting 36-holes with Red Mountain arguably being the best golf course on Phuket, it’s a must-play with just about every tee shot offering one of those WOW moments. Loch Palm is a more gentle, fun and relaxed golfing experience offering more of a members' course feel to it. It's well worth playing both if you are in the Patong area. You can also play Phuket Country Club in Patong, it's another very good option with 27 holes and was the original golf course in Phuket.
In summary, the golf offering in Phuket is excellent. Canyon style golf to mountain views to ocean views and plenty of lakes to contend with…the courses are must-play.
Where is best to stay for a Phuket golf holiday?
To combine the best golf and hotels, we recommend staying in the Laguna Bang Tao beach area because from here, you can enjoy onsite golf at the Banyan Tree Phuket and Laguna Golf Club along with good options to play offsite courses such as Blue Canyon and Mission Hills.
The resort of Patong is also a good base if you want more of an immersive and lively resort experience with three courses to play - Red Mountain, Loch Palm and Phuket Country Club, all within a 20-30 minute drive.
Resorts including Trisara and The Surin also provide a good base for a luxury stay if you don’t mind travelling out to golf.
