Golf FAQ

  • Once I book, is there any hidden surcharges?
The prices on all European destinations are confirmed at the time of booking and no hidden extras or surcharges will apply. Long haul destinations are subject to increases in airport and fuel charges although we usually receive a 2-3 week notice of these changes and providing the flight is paid in full, these increases will not apply.
  • What do I pay and when?
A deposit is due at the time of booking.  If you have booked your own flights we normally take a deposit of £50 per person to cover your land arrangements.  If you book a flight inclusive package the deposit is normally £50 per person plus the full flight cost.  In all cases we will confirm the deposit due at time of booking.  Deposits are non refundable.  The final balance is due 10 weeks before the date of departure unless otherwise advised.
  • If I cancel, am I entitled to any refunds?
Cancellation fees and refund policies vary depending on the airline and/or tour operators used to book your holiday. Normally outwith 10 weeks of departure it will only result in loss of deposit with the cancellations fees increasing the nearer to departure the holiday is cancelled. Some golf courses may also charge cancellation fees if the bookings are cancelled within 4 weeks of play.

  • Are my Teetimes confirmed in advance?
All courses are subject to availability and tee-times for the majority of destinations will be confirmed within 48 hours of booking.  When requesting courses, it may be necessary to change the order the courses are played or the requested days of play to enable us to get the best itinerary.  If the any of your requested courses are unavailable, we will offer you a suitable alternative.
  • Do the courses have a handicap limit?
Most courses have a handicap limit generally 28 for men and 36 for ladies. This can vary from course to course and handicaps must be advised at the time of enquiry so we can select suitable courses.
  • Do I need a handicap certificate?
Many of the courses state that a handicap certificate is required to be shown prior to play. These are vary rarely asked for although we strongly recommend that you do take a certificate as failure to show this if requested may result in you being refused permission to play the course.

  • Does my green fee include buggies?
Most of the courses do not include buggy hire in their green fee although these can generally be booked and paid for in advance. Courses who do not allow pre-booking of buggies generally have a large number available on the day of play. Where courses do include buggy hire, this will be stated on your quote and confirmation invoice. If buggy hire is required, please state at the time of booking and we can include the prices in the final quote.
  • Do airlines charge for the carriage of golf clubs?
The majority of airlines now charge for the carriage of golf clubs on their flights. Wherever possible, our quotes will include these charges. For airlines who do not allow us to pre-book the space, we will provide the contact telephone numbers to enable you to do this directly with the appropriate carrier before departure.
  • Do I need travel insurance?
It is compulsory to have travel insurance for all travel outside of the UK.  Please ensure all members of your group are insured.  Golfkings can provide annual and single trip policies for both families and individuals.

  • Do I receive a refund on any rounds of golf not used?
In all cases, a refund will only be given to you if the course you are booked to play is closed due to inclement weather. If the course is open and you decide not to play for whatever reason, the course will charge 100% cancellation charges and no refunds will be given.
  • What is the dress code for the courses?
All courses require the usual golfing standard of dress with tailored shorts and shirts with collars. Denims and training shoes will not be permitted onto the courses or clubhouses.
  • Do I need soft spikes?
More and more courses now require soft spikes and we would recommend either these or dimple soled shoes are taken. Alternatively, most courses offer a spike changing facility for a small fee payable locally.
  • Who do I contact if i have a problem during my trip?
Where our packages are booked using one of the mainline tour operators, this will include a company representative being on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In cases where the packages have been sourced using the lowest flight and accommodation options, a destination care representative will be available during normal office hours. All contact telephone numbers for company representatives, hotels, airport, airlines and golf courses will be provided on your final itinerary which will forwarded along with your flight tickets.

  • Do I need a visa to travel abroad?
All British Passport holders do not require a visa to travel to any of our featured destinations except the USA and Turkey.  Details of how to apply for a Visa will be provided with your tickets prior to travel. Should anyone travelling in your party not have a British Passport, please advise us at the time of booking and we will advise if any further documentation is required.
