Recently ranked as the 88th best course in the world by Golf Magazine, Oitavos Dunes Golf Course is a brilliant place to play. As its name suggests, it is set in the natural sand dunes of The Sintra and Cascais National Park. Should you not be playing your best, you can always take in the stunning sea views and wildlife.
The Portuguese Open has been held here in recent years (2005, 2007, 2008, and 2009) and this trend looks set to continue. Facilities are second to none, including an excellent practice area, chipping and putting greens, and a state of the art clubhouse.
Oitavos Dunes Golf Course Description
Oitavos Dunes Golf Course’s signature hole is a par 3 with high sand dunes on either side. Having stunning views of the sea as its backdrop and requiring a tricky tee shot over a ravine, makes this a hole that you will never forget. This 18 hole, par 71, 6933 yard course was designed by Arthur Hills.
A new hotel has almost been completed and is scheduled to open in late July 2010. Golfers visiting Lisbon will have yet another 5* resort with onsite golf, just a stone’s throw away from Cascais and Lisbon themselves.
