The La Cala Golf is located near the small village of La Cala de Mijas, approximately fifteen minutes drive from Fuengirola and Marbella. It caters for all levels of golfer having three 18 hole courses to choose from. It also has a 6 hole, par 3 executive course, and is the home to a David Leadbetter Golf Academy.
La Cala Golf – The Campo Asia Course Description
The Campo Asia (formally the South Course) was the first of the courses to open in La Cala Golf in 1990. Measuring 6500 yards, its narrow fairways and small bunker-guarded greens require accuracy, rather than distance. A large number of approach shots are to elevated greens, which require careful thought if under clubbing is to be avoided.
La Cala Golf – The Campo America Course Description
The Campo America (formally the North Course) opened in 1991. It has a large number of raised greens which require careful clubbing on approach shots. The fairways are more generous than the South Course, and three of the five par 5s are reachable in two for the bigger hitters. The course is set in the highest part of the La Cala Golf complex and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
La Cala Golf – Campo Europa Course Description
The Campo Europa Course is the latest edition to La Cala Golf, opening in March 2005. Its fairways are more generous and the greens are bigger than the other two courses. The only real trouble comes from the natural water hazard, the River Ojen, which meanders through the course and comes into play on eight holes. Accuracy is required on approach though, as the greens are well guarded by a number of bunkers. The 14th hole is the signature hole of the course, measuring the maximum permitted length for a par 3 at 256 yards.
All three at La Cala Golf Courses offer a variety of challenges for golfers of all abilities and prove to be a popular addition to many Costa del Sol golf holidays.
