Costa Del Sol golf courses - La Cala Resort Golf

The La Cala Resort is located near the small village of La Cala de Mijas aprx. 15 minutes drive from the resorts of Fuengirola and Marbella. It caters for all level of golfer with 3 x 18 hole courses to choose from, a 6 hole par 3 executive course and also the home to a David Leadbetter Golf Academy.

The Campo Asia (formally the South Course) was the first of the courses to open in 1990. Measuring 6500 yards in length it requires accuracy rather than distance with narrow fairways and small greens all of which are well guarded by a number of bunkers. A large number of approach shots are to elevated greens which require careful thought to avoid under clubbing.

The Campo America (formally the North Course) opened in 1991 and it’s trademark is the number of raised greens which require careful clubbing on the approach shots. The fairways are more generous than the south course and 3 of the 5 par 5’s are reachable in 2 for the bigger hitters. The course is set in the highest part of the La Cala complex and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area.”

The Campo Europa is the latest edition to La Cala opening in March 2005. It’s fairways are more generous and has bigger greens than the other 2 courses with the only real trouble coming from the natural water hazard, the River Ojen which meanders through the course coming into play on 8 holes. Accuracy is required on approach shots though as the greens are well guarded by a number of bunkers. The 14th hole is the signature hole of the course measuring the maximum permitted length for a par 3 at 256 yards.

All 3 courses at La Cala offer a variety of challenges for all level of player and all prove to be a popular choice with a lrge number of visitors to the Costa del Sol.
