Set at the foothills of the La Concha Mountains south of Estepona, Atalaya Golf offers 2 of the most popular courses on the Costa del Sol. Atalaya Golf & Country Club is also headquaters to the PGA of Europe which covers 29 countries and 7500 golf professionals.
The Old Course opened in 1968 and features wide fairways and fast elevated greens. The fairways are lined by a number of eucalyptus, olive and pine trees which offer pleasant shade in the summer but also punishing any inaccurate shots.
Measuring 6760 yards in length, the elevated tees offer stunning views of the Rock of Gibralter and North Africa but don't get distracted as the course demands your full attention at all times!
The New Course opened for play in 1991 and is more gently sloping than it's sister course. Despite only measuring 5900 yards, a great deal of care has to be taken as a number of fairways are fairly tight and lined by large oak and pine trees.
The greens are also notoriously quick and well guarded by bunkers and water hazards.
The Atalaya Golf Resort is very popular among visitors to the area and between the 2 courses offer a fair test to keep players of all standards interested. Both courses are also renownded throughout the Costa del Sol for beautifully manicured fairways and greens.
