Nestled in pine forests close to the centre of Vilamoura, the Pinhal Golf Course was originally opened for play in 1976 and partially redesigned by Robert Trent Jones JNR in 1985.

The front 9 requires accuracy from the tee due to tight tree lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers. The back 9 is more open and suits bigger hitters who are not afraid to take some risks off the tee. The course is relatively flat and offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.
