Nestled in pine forests close to the centre of Vilamoura, the Pinhal courses was originally opened for play in 1976 and partially redesigned by Robert Trent Jones JNR in 1985.
Offering a contrast of styles, the front nine requires accuracy from the tee with tight tree lined fairways which are also protected by stratigically placed bunkers. The back nine is more wide open and suits those bigger hitters who are not affraid to take some risks off the tee. The course is relatively flat and offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. It proves a popular choice with players of all abilities and is an ideal course on which to play the first round of your holiday to warm up for the tougher more challanging courses which await.
