The brainchild of Sir Henry Cotton in the 1980s, Benamor did not open for play until 2000 and was the first golf course in the eastern end of The Algarve.
The course is built on hilly ground with some undulating fairways which are lined with olive and fig trees requiring accuracy rather than length from the tee. At only 5900 yards from the back tees it is not long but strategically placed bunkers and the occasional water hazard protect the large greens.
Offering views across the surrounding mountains and Atlantic Ocean, Benamor is fast becoming a popular choice for visitors to this area of The Algarve.
