Quinta do Lago South Course is located in an exclusive golf and residential estate bordering the Ria Formosa National Park. There are currently 36 holes at Quinta do Lago but the 3rd course, O Laranjal Golf Course, is due to open in 2008 at a date yet to be announced.

The South Course has played host to the Portuguese Open on several ocassions and requires a great deal of course management and shot making to negotiate it's many hidden dangers. The front nine requires players to draw the ball from the tee with the back favouring a slight fade.  Water features also come into play on 3 of the holes and measuring over 7000 yards from the back tees is a course better suited to the bigger hitters.
